EDITORIAL: Tripod Calls for Safety Reforms From Top

The campus safety situation at Trinity College has reached a nadir in the last few weeks following the sexual assault of a student on Vernon Street. While the staff of The Trinity Tripod has always tried to avoid making the news on which we report, we feel that the current situation requires a grand gesture by the student body, as initiated by the student press, in order to gain the attention it deserves from the College's leadership.

If You Don't Like Frats, Don't Go

By Whitney Duprey

I think it's about time somebody stood up for the fraternities. Every week there is a new article in The Trinity Tripod about how fraternities are the anti-Christ. Well, if you are a fraternity hater, then this is what I have to say to you: if you don't like the fraternities, don't go to them.

'Around Trinity' Column Insensitive

By Sarah Gardiner

Although the "Around Trinity" (AT) column in The Trinity Tripod never set the bar for any kind of journalistic standards, in last week's issue, I feel that one particular segment crossed several lines. The blurb was titled "Roofie Coladas: Everyone's Fave Beverage.

By David Kimball-Stanley

Over the past few weeks, I have been thinking about the nature of this year's campaign for Student Government Association (SGA) President. Conservative Answers To Energy Crisis Unrealistic

By Bryce Blum

The science is controversial. That's the lie they've been telling us for more than a decade. It's fooled some of the country's greatest minds, and last week's Trinity Tripod revealed that our own Reid Vineis '10 is yet another victim. Maybe he hasn't been completely duped; he does seem to have a genuine concern for growing carbon dioxide emissions.

Drinking Age Unfair, Should Be Lowered to 18

By Amanda Tramont

I was anticipating that Nov. 20, 2004, would be the best day of my life. No, no, it wasn't the day I was leaving my parents for college, and it was by no means my wedding day. It was my 18th birthday. And on that sunny Saturday morning, I was ready to take on the world.

Speaking out against Israel's occupation of Palestine is like screaming in the dark. Uri Avnery an Israeli scholar notes how Palestinians are suffering from several cruel strokes of fate: The people that oppress them claim for themselves the crown of ultimate victimhood.

Student Cites Injustices Aimed At Palestinians

By Hady Matar

For the past couple of weeks, there has been a debate within The Trinity Tripod about Israel's creation in 1948. Israeli history, much as American history has done to Native Americans, has always been aimed at lessening the suffering of the displacement of the Palestinians.
